The counselling student placement for the 2017-2018 school year is full. We are NOT ACCEPTING new student applications at this time. Please review the website mid-Spring 2018 for updates on the counselling student program.

In order to qualify for a placement you must:

  • be enrolled in an undergraduate or a graduate university program (BSW, MSW, AMMFT, MEd, etc.) or an MSW Bridging Program (Ryerson, TAPE, etc.) or D.T.A.T.I
  • have completed at least one placement
  • have previous experience in the area of trauma as it relates to intimate partner abuse, adult sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse

Students will learn:

  • assessment and intake skills
  • to facilitate trauma-informed groups
  • to provide brief and/or longer-term individual counselling
  • to understand vicarious trauma and how to mediate its affects
  • to advocate for women in various systems
  • to cultivate a feminist anti-oppression practice
